So “Ice and Snow” is originally named “Ice and Dark”.
Instead of an neat and tidy plot, there’s a sinister bittersweet twist. A third-party was involved with Freedert and Elliot, Kael, their childhood friend, who was also in-love with Freedert. To acquire Freedert’s love he betrayed his best friend Elliot and asked the Second Hand of Time, SHoT for short, to end Elliot’s life. However, the consequences were tragic.
Freedert, upon learning Elliot’s death, asked the SHoT that her remaining time be give to Elliot. The wish was granted yet when Elliot was brought back to life and learned that his lover is dead, he committed suicide. Kael, probably because of his guilt, written the novel “Ice and Dark”. And when the Cultural Revolution came, the original story was revised into a more romantic and clean one.
