D.N. Angel: Finale
It has ended. The fight between Krad and Dark-san is finished. The first scene shown in the first episode is actually taken from this final one.
Although I enjoyed the way the writers tied up the loose ends, the finale is a tad bit rushed. They should’ve just incorporated the Second Hand of Time arc into this two-parter finale. That would’ve been a strong ending.
Let me just write down the whereabouts of the main and supporting characters in this ending:
Let’s start with Krad and Dark-san. After a bloody battle, they were sealed into the mirror, I suppose, never to return. I’m a little shaky with my interpretation.
The members in the Niwa household, Gramps, Mom, Dad, Towa-chan and Ouizu, are all safe and sound.
Mio-san who used her last ounce of magic to prevent Dai-san’s death — an action which sealed her into the questionable pendant — tried to save Hiwatari-kun’s father’s soul. The twins lent their bodies so she can finish the task.
Hiwatari-kun’s father who was changed for some reason by his son’s art reverts back to his old self. In the end, he helped in fighting Krad’s evil scheme.
Like I said before, Risa-san has grown into a mature young woman. She learned from her mistakes in the past and moved on with the knowledge she gained.
Riku-san. She finally found out the real identity of Dark-san. However, she’s not surprised. She and Dai-san will definitely marry in the future.
Hiwatari-kun fights fate. Instead of running away, Dai-san showed him an alternative choice. I have a felling they will be great friends.
Daisuke-san. The great Phantom Thief Dark is out of his body yet he will always remain somehow deep within him. His refusal to give up was instrumental in Hiwatari-kun’s change of heart. His career as a thief has ended.
I need to re-watch the whole series again to fully understand some of the Hikari-Niwa thing that has been going on for centuries. D.N. Angel is definitely one DVD worthy. I highly recommend this one although you have to sit through the entire series to fully enjoy it. Of course there are a few bumps here and there but overall I loved it.
