Onegai Teacher: Finale

Like I said before tampering with the brain is simply wrong. The ending was indeed predictably a happy one. Of course, having seen the Onegai Twins, I knew this series wraps things up nicely with a bow.

Kazami-sensei returns to school and it was like deja vu. Some scenes from the first episode resembles the some scenes from the last. However, everybody seems to have grown up. Let’s write a list.

  • As predicted, Koishi seems to end up with Yamada-sensei who cleans up rather nicely. The relationship should be kept a secret.
  • Matagu. He seems still weird. Then we’ll see him change into a perverted brother in Onegai Twins.
  • Hyousuke-kun and Misumi-san. The relationship is going strong. However, a personality change for the two in the sequel were extreme. You’ll see.
  • Ichigo-san finally realized the importance of friends and families. She’s not as cynical as she used to be.
  • And of course, a nice happy ending for our main couple, Kei-kun and Kazami-sensei. One thing though, shouldn’t Kei-kun call her a something different? A little less formal perhaps?

Compared to the sequel, I rather enjoyed this original. There were hardly unnecessary repetitiveness that slows down the movement of the story. The combination of comedy, drama, even a little ecchi didn’t hurt at all. I am glad the animators decided against producing an extreme number of fanservice scenes. Fanservice happens to distract the viewers from the story.

Overall, I highly recommend Onegai Teacher to anyone who enjoys romantic comedies. It’s original and humorous yet still has depth and subtleties thrown in the mix.
