Full Metal Panic

How I enjoyed watching this mecha driven anime. So far, I had a strong partiality to the action-comedy genre but still quite wary of anything with mecha. Since a fellow anime enthusiast recommended this title, I gave it a shot to see if it was indeed worth the trouble. To my surprise, I was impressed with the animation and the characters involved.

Although it has some flaws like the lack of real explanation of Chidori’s knowledge of the Black technology, I can look over that fact because of engrossing storyline. One thing that really bothers me the most is the unnecessary pantsu shots which does not really achieve anything but to bring perverted enjoyment to those males who really need to get a life.

This two main characters certainly brings life to the show. We should really thank those Seiyuus and the author for creating delightful personalities.

*Sousuke-kun is one strange male. I understand he has his tough background to deal with but really can he not grasp the concept of a civilian life. A little common sense is all I ask. I suppose that is part of his charm so it cannot be helped.

*I am sure loving this gal Chidori. She has spunk and fire inside her. This girl will fight with all she has if given the chance. Her background is mostly confined to the fact that she has knowledge of the Black Technology.

The supporting cast is varied and quite adorable. One episode in which I thoroughly enjoyed was when it featured the initial meeting of Sousuke and his teammates. The delicate Captain isn’t exactly a weakling either. Although she has limited athletic abilities, she possess a heart of a soldier. Sousuke’s teammates are actually great with comedic bits even with the battle sequences. Also, the villain who seemed to have one hundred and one lives is just plain annoying. I can’t help it. He is the villain after all.

Overall, this one is worth buying the DVD for any anime collection. If you enjoy the action-comedy genre with a hint of romantic endeavors, this is one of those that will keep you in your seats. Just watch the damn thing.
