Spiral: Bonds of Reasoning

I have to be honest here, I did enjoy the first half of Spiral until they abruptly switched into a different arc without even moment’s notice.
I don’t mind detective stories. In fact, I liked the flow of the first few episodes especially the part where the lead has to solve the riddle or else death awaits. Of course, it got old quite quickly.
One of the major flaws of the series is that it did not answer the most important questions. Where did these cursed children came from? What was their history? Why are they being hunted down mercilessly? Where the hell is the big brother (I forgot his name) who is supposed to be some kind of savior?
Too many questions left unanswered so I lowered down my impression for it. A series should contain some closure, may it be bad or good. An open ended one just seems to be a cheap way of finishing the series.
There I said it.
