DVD Marathon?

I’m truly ecstatic. That’s how I feel right about now. The package which I purchased a few days ago arrived today, my brand new anime babies. Now I have Prince of Tennis Parts 3/4 and Fruits Basket in my hands. Both were not impulsive buys, I really wanted to own the DVDs for these two because its worth it.

With Fruits Basket, it’s a case of love at first sight. Technically, I fell in-love with the opening song first then when watched the first episode I knew I NEED to purchase the DVD. I can’t get enough of this series. Nuff said.

With Prince of Tennis, it’s different. I wasn’t hooked from the start. However, once I watched enough episodes for me to enjoy the matches I was addicted. It’s still an ongoing series, even the manga is still currently running in Japan. Now if I’ll just have to wait for next month before I buy Parts 1&2 of PoT. Yes, I’m trying to be a good girl because I already exceeded my budget for DVDs this month.

My wishlist is surprisingly short. Most of my collection are from the fansubbing groups, only if I find the show DVD worthy is when I buy it. From the top of my head these are the following titles I’m interested in buying in the next couple of months.

  • Get Backers - that’s mostly for episodes 1-26, till the Makubex/Infinite Tower arc but owning the whole thing is better than getting only parts of it
  • Hunter X Hunter - including the OVAs yet I disliked the York Shin City arc featured in the ending of the series and the first OVA installment. Too dark for my taste. The Ryodan faction just isn’t cool enough a group to satisfy my interest. Hisoka’s much better by himself than the entire team put together.
  • Full Metal Panic Fumoffu - I’m not sure if the HKs are out yet
  • Flame of Recca - I missed watching this show, the group subbing this series is taking their goddamn sweet time. Like I said before if you don’t want to wait just buy ot yourself.
  • Tenshi na Konamaiki - this one is just plain hilarious
  • Hikaru no Go - I was better off not knowing the ‘true’ ending of the manga. The anime ending was optimistic whilst the manga was just plain stupid. Yes I said it. It’s S-T-U-P-I-D. Shidou should’ve won that match. Argh. From now on I’m blocking that memory away.

Right now I’m cutting the list short because I seriously should be more attentive on the money I spend monthly for these things. Anyway, these are my targets for February and March. HnG, GB, TnK, and HxH each have more than fifty episodes each. I know it’ll cost a bundle. I’ll probably wait for the third OVA of HxH — I hope it’s the continuation of Greed Island — since it’s coming next month.
