Kimi ga Nozomu Eien

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, The Eternity You Wish For, — I love the title — has finally come to an end. For me, the ending gave me the closure I have been wishing for, a Mitsuki-Takayuki ending. Mitsuki needed that, heck, I needed that too.
I lurked around some speculation forums and was surprised with the number of Haruka fans, not that I dislike the girl. She spent three years in a coma for crying out loud. But she had the luxury of not experiencing the pain the others had to go through in order survive the tragedy, they had to cope with what they have. She is Ta-san’s past and Mitsuki is Ta-san’s present and future.
Why do some people blame Mitsuki for moving on? She’s not the villain, there were no villains. She was a teen and she didn’t know any better. But when the accident happened, she was the one who helped Ta-san stand upright once more. For three years, she lived behind the shadows of Haruka, secretly hurting, yet she continued to love and support Ta-san. She gave her all without conditions. In return, Ta-san broke her heart with his indecision and uncertainty. In fact, she deserves someone better than him but love makes people I-N-S-A-N-E.
I’m just happy he realized his weak actions. It was not entirely his fault. In the first place, when Ha-san confessed to him he had someone else in his heart already, Mitsuki, but Mitsuki asked him to give Ha-san a chance. Thinking that Mitsuki does not reciprocate his feelings, he went for Ha-san. In fairness, he tried to become serious with her. Then accident happened. Remember, they were only going out for three weeks in junior high where everything is all fine-and-dandy. With Mitsuki, it was an entirely different ball game. It was an adult relationship with warts and all. At least in the end he chose with his heart not with the guilt he has been carrying around for years.
Despite the fact that I wanted this ending, I still want to beat the crap out of Ta-san. It’s a woman’s instinct to defend their own.
*Haruka bid farewell to Ta-san, ended her friendship with Mitsuki, and remained close with her sister, Akane. She survived all the drama and became an author.
*Akane became a sports star. When interviewed by the press, she always attributed her success to her senpai Mitsuki. No grudges, thank goodness.
*Shinji. Actually, I really don’t care.
*As I have been saying all along, Mitsuki and Takayuki moved on together.
It was a bittersweet ending. I don’t know why the animators decided on Ha-san become the center in the end. I’d rather have the game’s “true” ending where Mitsuki was the one who wrote the storybook for her kid and also where the four friends were reunited.
Oh well, I did not exactly played the game nor saw the actual ending so it’s okay. Anyway, I got my wish granted.
