Peace Maker Kurogane: Episode 18

I’m really trying my best to comprehend this anime. But for some reason, my brain has yet to grasp the real storyline behind these complex and intertwined tales of patriotism. I’m still at loss for words for this episode. I would never expected to have such a dark turn. True, there had been bloodshed and death but this is worse than before since Ayu is not a mere stranger to the viewers.

Basically, the history references confuse me. Although I did watched the anime version and read the manga version of Rurouni Kenshin, the real historical facts are jumbled in my mind. Therefore to understand and appreciate this series, I’ve decided to tackle on researching information on the Shinsen-gumi and that era in Japan.

I am presuming that next episode will be another depressing one. Coincidentally, as I watch episode 18 entitled ‘Rain’, there is storm brewing outside my residence. Now, the gloomy episode had doubled its intensity.
