Naruto: Episode 75

After that long game of tag, Gaara and Sasuke-kun are face to face. Gaara’s monstrous strength is more than Sasuke-kun expected. Although he was in the disadvantageous position, he managed to counter Gaara’s attacks. He was even able to summon up enough energy to use Chidori at the expense of reducing his chakra to zero and activating Oro’s seal.

Gaara was hit but it wasn’t fatal enough to injure him badly. He was about to finish off Sasuke-kun but Naruto arrived in the nick of time. Finally, the long awaited Gaara-Naruto match. I can’t wait to see Naruto summoning the giant frog (I forgot his name) and Gaara’s complete form.

Overall, it was a good episode with a lot of drooling in Gaara’s part. While he was growling and gnarling his teeth like a mad dog, we also catch a glimpse of Yashamaru — who I thought for some reason was female — and Gaara’s childhood. Poor kid. He was ostracized by everyone. He might think that he is very similar to Sasuke-kun but his childhood probably mostly resembles Naruto’s. Sasuke-kun’s history may be tragic but he was still viewed as a prodigy and accepted by the village whilst Naruto was treated like an outcast. On top of that, a monster is inside Naruto’s body too.

Next episode we’ll learn more of Gaara’s past. Whenever there’s a fight in this type of series, the characters almost always have some sort of epiphany, enlightenment, or some story to tell. Shouldn’t they focus on fighting before reflecting? It’s just a suggestion.
