Peace Maker Kurogane: Episode 23

Tetsu-kun came a long way from being just a loud-mouthed kid to quite a strong fighter. Frankly, I wanted an extended director’s cut of the Tetsu-Yoshida battle. Nevertheless, it was quite a sight to see the moves Tetsu-kun used during the fight. I suppose the mock battle between him and Heisuke a few episodes ago — which Tetsu-kun won — proved its purpose. While he had the advantage of completely defeating Yoshida, he opted not to kill the man, a decision which almost cost his life till Okita-san stepped in.

Hijikata-san, Sanosuke, and Saitoh saw Suzumu’s signal and head for its direction. Saitoh only garnered a few seconds of screentime while Sanosuke was visibly upset to find his partners in crime, Nagakura and Heisuke, injured which made for a funny scene. When Hijikata-san saw Okita-san, he finally realized the illness he has been hiding from them. BTW, it’s nice to see a softened expression of Hijikata-san when he was showing his concern for Okita-san. He even gave kind words to Tetsu-kun which immediately followed by a yell. Typical.

Suzu was more than distraught when he discovered the lifeless body of Yoshida. Since he saw Tetsu-kun near the body, I wonder if he would blame it all to him.

The finale would most likely to be a wrap up for the entire series. While I want a relatively happy ending, I also want a some kind of a surprise next week.
