Twin Spica: Episode 09

I like the way Twin Spica’s author’s mind works. So far, the way the plot is laid down to the audience is quite impressive and the use of flashbacks is done in a very effective way.
The Marika-Lion connection is further explained but there are still key elements which should be cleared up. Marika’s story cleverly sets up the main storyline for the episode.
A few years back, Suzunari-sensei was having doubts with her chosen profession. At that moment, she was quite insecure with herself as a teacher causing her to be constantly depressed and irritated. A school field trip where Asumi and Fuuchuya ended up getting lost in the forest became a blessing in disguise. In the place where she found Asumi, she also located the abandoned secret base of Lion. Inside the rocket-shaped base, Suzunari-sensei discovered Lion’s childhood treasures including a picture of Gagarin with a child’s dream scrawled at the back. After reading the small note, she realized something she was lacking of late. She had a renewed sense of purpose. Even when remembering her beloved, she will no longer dwell on the past but she will live for the future.
Whenever I finish an episode of Twin Spica, I feel like I just watched an old childhood favorite. Whew, I’m getting nostalgic.
