Chrno Crusade: Episode 19

Damn. That was a mind-numbing experience. Where do I begin? I haven’t really posted an entry for Chrno Crusade but I just had to put in my worthless two cents for this episode. I’m sorry for spoilers on the images, I could not help myself. There is too much going on in this episode. Really.

After the long four years of searching, Rosette finally found Joshua yet it is not the reunion she hoped for. Joshua’s current state could not recognize his sister’s face but can still hear an echo of her voice which pains him literally. To put a stop to the voice, he decided to use the gun he grabbed from his sister and fired a shot at her. Chrno’s quick response and agile movements saved her from harm yet he himself suffered severe injuries.

Meanwhile, back at the carnival. Satella and company are still unaware of the events that are unfolding until Satella found her kind butler bloodied on the pavement and Azumaria nowhere in sight. Once she saw the suspicious light reaching the sky, she ran towards it.

With the seven virtues and the Pandemonium’s head in place, Aion’s plan succeeded. His then revealed true intention of collecting the seven virtues. In order to claim power, he wanted to reawaken Mary Magdalene who lies dormant in Rossette. He tried to convince Rossette to join him using his half truths. Rosette’s tears and silent cry were heard by Chrno. Upon hearing the pleas, Chrno transformed into his original form.

The momentum of the series moving upwards that I might be disappointed once it calms down. Even with the glimpse of Mary Magdalene and the references towards her, her connection to Chrno remains unanswered. At least, it is clear that Chrno had a reason for sleeping inside her tomb. Also, Satella’s sister could be Aion’s servant (I don’t know her name). In fact, Satella was surprised by the use of jewels similar to hers.

Honestly, I was staring at the screen for a few minutes even after the credits. Whew, I need a breather.
