Fullmetal Alchemist: Episode 29

Give me a few more episodes like this one, and I would definitely pledge my undying loyalty to Hiromu-sensei. While the treatment for most of the scenes were deceivingly light, surprises and character development filled the entire episode.
Ignoring Ed’s protests, Izumi brought the mystery kid along with her. She fed and dressed the child as if he was her own. The kid had no memory of his past nor any idea of his identity. His skills in alchemy along with his questionable identity caused doubts on Ed and Al. The highly suspicious nature of the brothers forced them to explain themselves to Izumi. Only then, Izumi realized how dangerous it has become her apprentices. Although she only showed kindness to the strange boy, she herself have her own theories on his real identity. She forced Ed to remember the moments when he and his brother used the forbidden technique. Ed somewhat understood the importance of what he discovered from the experience however, it was incomplete. Izumi offered no explanation to enlighten the confused Ed. She then went back to the island and sought out answers to her nagging doubts.
Meanwhile, Ed and Al are adamant for straight answers that they once again disregarded their teacher’s orders. Instead of staying put in their room and not bother the kid, they questioned him in a very rough manner that the poor kid had no choice but to run away from them.
I can see where Ed and Al are coming from but their insensitive actions and lack of thought proves their immaturity. They are still children walking among adults. Izumi on the other hand, has wisdom enough to know how to approach certain things. The Elric’s impatience could cause them dearly, later on. Although Izumi implied that the kid isn’t one of the homunculus, he could still be one of them. If these creatures are made up of pieces of human flesh and get their parts from different individuals, the kid’s alchemy use must have came from Ed’s right arm.
Alchemy without the circle is hinted to be caused by practicing the forbidden human transmutation. Izumi may have tried the technique before. She knows about the homunculus more than she lets on.
Argh, I have to impatiently wait for next week’s episode.
