Midori no Hibi: Episode 01

I have to admit I had my doubts on this much hyped and talked about Midori no Hibi. When I was told it was about a boy who had a girl attached to his right arm, I wasn’t too crazy previewing the series. As it turns out, the first episode churn out some good laughs.
Sawamura Seiji, a well known tough guy, can’t seem to get himself a girlfriend. Most females in his school are afraid of of his bad boy reputation. One day, while mulling over another rejection, he utters a string of words he shouldn’t have said. He wished for a girlfriend no matter who it was. As the old saying goes, be careful what you wish for. Out of nowhere, a girl replaced his infamous right hand.
Kasugano Midori has long been infatuated with her beloved Seiji. Her shy demeanor kept her from introducing herself to him. Instead, she settled on watching him from a distance. One day, she got her wish to be close to him although she ended up literally attached to his body.
While Seiji’s tough-guy-with-a-kind-heart personality which borders on cliche does not bother me at all, Midori’s character does. Honestly, I can’t stand shows where the lead girl is so in-love with the guy that she does almost everything just to please him. That’s why I pick on Maburaho’s Yuuna, get annoyed with Aoi in Ai Yori Aoshi, and wanted to slap Mitsuki and Haruka in KimiNozo. It’s just me being weird about it.
I had more than a few good laughs from the first episode. Basing on that alone, I know I’ll follow this series for fun even when I decide not to post entries for it. My main concern is that I might get tired of Midori’s attitude yet I am curious to know how things are going to turn out.
BTW, does anybody know how many episodes this series will be having?
