HxH GI Final: Episode 06

After training intensely, Gon and company challenges Razor and the fourteen devils to another match. The first four matches were easily won but at game five the rules changed. The four wins are now useless and whomever wins this game wins the tournament. The next game was to be some kind of dodge ball with eight persons per team. The goal is to take the entire team out of the court by throwing a ball at them. The person on the receiving end should either catch or dodge the ball. If the person is hit without catching the ball, he is thrown out of the court. In the entire game, only one person per team outside the playing field can resume their position by saying, “Back!”.

Some of the enlisted members of Gon’s group decided to back out of the game because of sheer terror at Razor’s strength. So it’s up to Gon, Hisoka, Killua, Biske, Tzesugera, and Goremu to finish off the round. To complete the eight person requirement, Goremu used nen to create two Gorilla-like creatures to serve as the two replacements. The other side consists of only one person, Razor himself. Like Goremu, he used nen to materialize seven more individuals to participate the game.

So far the match isn’t at an exciting level. Goremu easily knocked out two of the nen creatures but his nen-Gorilla and he himself was taken out once Razor launched his attack. Tzezugera’s reflex wasn’t good enough to avoid a fast one that he got hit on his back. Even with the instinctive use of kou to protect himself from further injury, he earned a few broken ribs. So there was five.

Honestly, I thought the manga was a little more exciting than this episode. Considering the second half of the game is only about to begin, my impression may change later on. There is one image in particular that I am waiting for. It’s a little bit, um, crude, but extremely funny. I wonder how the animators are going to deal with it. Can’t wait to find out.
