The sobfest continues?
Somebody should’ve warned that I would need visine after watching RahXephon. Last year, I gave up on this series only minutes after watching the opening scene. It’s my own fault that I missed out greatly.
I had no plans on posting an entry about this series. But somehow after watching the final episodes, I needed a place to vent. Heck, my eyes are still puffy and my nose is red from all the sniffling I made during the last few eppies.
Based on some of the reviews I read, the finale did not have a sense of closure so I was bracing myself for a huge letdown. However, once I saw the ending I realize that I appreciated what was given. Honestly, I thought it was fitting to end in such fashion.
The series took risks with its endless twists and turns on the storyline. There were times that I felt that if I blink for only moment, I would’ve missed something significant. Another thing I enjoyed about this series, it did not spoon fed its viewers with explanations. I appreciate the fact that the author respected the audiences’ ability to discern the subtle narrative embedded within the storyline. Sure, there were minor WTF-moments but since I enjoyed the experience of watching the show, I’ll ignore it for the moment. Heh, I’m fine with that. Every program has its flaws.
I was quite slow on the uptake about the girl in the painting. I should’ve known its significance all along since it was right under my nose the whole time. I need to regroup and collate my thoughts. The final episode is still fresh in my mind that I’m in no way being objective in my comments.
Seriously, if RahXephon did not end the way it had, or we were given a non-ending, I would’ve lost a few glasses and plates here at my apartment.
