Twin Spica: Episode 10

Yay, episode ten is finally released.

Asumi’s teacher, Nano-sensei harbors strong resentment towards her. Or perhaps towards her father. He saw an opportunity to cause trouble for Asumi once he discovered that the school has to purchase a customized spacesuit for her which caused a tightening of the school’s budget. He proposed to the school board to send Asumi packing in order to alleviate the budget. However, a member of the committee, Shiomi-sensei, argued his solution does not uphold the mission statement of the program. Thankfully, the committee agreed with Shiomi-sensei’s argument and decided to bear the financial constraints and let Asumi continue with the space program.

After the meeting, Nano asked Shiomi about his ardent support for the young girl. He was told because Asumi has the bright eyes he now lost. Shiomi did not elaborate on his response but later on he thought to himself that Asumi’s eyes reminds him of the friends he once had. Could he be Lion’s friend? He’s about the right age. Hopefully, he’ll be a fixture in the succeeding episodes.

Meanwhile, Asumi fights her own fears. Although she dutifully performs the water exercises, she still retains a certain phobia caused by her accident by the river years ago. To strengthen her resolve, she practices at the pool. Predictably, a slightly worried Fuuchuya watches by the sidelines. He was surprised to see Marika looking out for Asumi too. Good thing, they were present at that time because Asumi who over-exerted herself fell unconscious in the water. Fuuchuya prepared to jump into the pool when Marika beat him to her.

I am curious to know how Marika perceives Asumi. She puts on a facade as defense mechanism yet her treatment to Asumi is quite different from others.

One thing I noticed on the animation, it sank further than usual. How can that be? The LQ graphics tend to distract the viewers from the some of the scenes. Well, I’m watching this for the story so I shouldn’t be too bothered by the animation.
