Twin Spica: Episode 11

Bring out your handkerchief because heavy sniffling is on your way. *sigh* Okay, it’s only me with my puffy eyes and runny nose after watching this episode.

First things first. Sano-sensei is E-V-I-L. How can such a man be cruel to a young girl? He poured out to Asumi his frustrations on her father. For a young impressionable girl like Asumi, hearing harsh words and half-truths only brought confusion and grief. The cold-hearted teacher blames Asumi’s father for causing the Shishigou accident. The reason for his judgment is unclear but I concur with Lion’s assessment of the tragedy. The explosion of the space shuttle is probably an accumulation of little mishaps. To blame one person as the sole cause for the incident is quite unfair. Of course, my *cough*bias*cough* opinion is derived from the fact that Sano-sensei’s tactics are despicable and that I don’t want to vilify Asumi’s dad.

Upon hearing information about the Shishigou tragedy, Asumi became depressed. The lack of her usual cheery self baffled both Marika and Kei. Surprisingly, it was Marika who seemed to be more understanding with Asumi’s attitude change. On the other hand, Kei’s reaction was quite the opposite. Once Asumi refused to tell her about her troubling thoughts, Kei lashed out on her. Hmmm . . . their first fight.

Later on, when Asumi went missing from a field trip, Kei assumed her mean words drove Asumi away. Worried about their friend, she and the others tried to look for Asumi. After the fruitless search, they informed the Phys. Ed teacher about the situation. Coincidentally, Sano-sensei is also at the faculty room at that time. He acted like a kind teacher concerned for his student. However, the sharp-eyed Marika and Shuu were suspicious of the two-faced Sano.

Meanwhile, Asumi decided to head to her hometown where she found out that Suzunari-sensei was getting married that day. She immediately sought out the depressed Lion and apologized for her father’s part in the Shishigou accident. If the space shuttle didn’t crash, it would’ve been Lion and not another man in Suzunari’s arms. As sad as he was, Lion explained that once he decided to be an astronaut he was prepared to risk his life. Also, in his opinion, the blame should not be shouldered by one man alone.

Without any words to say, the lonely duo sat by the tree, wordlessly comforting each other.

Suzunari-sensei’s marriage is indeed an occasion to celebrate. She was lucky enough to find love the second time around. However, it also meant that she is closing a precious chapter of her life. Happiness is all we can hope for her.

Argh, now I’m depressed.
