Chrno Crusade: Episode 23

While the penultimate episode lacked an epic battle which I was hoping for, it delivered the right amount of emotional impact for its audiences.

With the intense build up of the fight between Chrno and Aion, I was expecting a more prolonged match. I suppose a quick but intense scene was all it needed. However, I couldn’t buy the fact that Chrno can just crush Aion just like that. Of course, he was filled with raged plus his horns were returned to him which he could use as weapons. While I’m not surprised at the demise of Aion, I’m taken aback with Chrno and Rosette’s current situation. Are we going to find in the final episode that they died after all? It’s too depressing.

Satella and Fiore died together in the previous episode. Joshua’s mental health is in question. Azmaria feels alone in her grief. And the tragic pair suddenly disappeared. I know the odds are against me, but I’m hoping this series won’t end in a bittersweet note.
