Fullmetal Alchemist: Episode 33

One of my favorite things which I enjoy in this series is seeing varying shades of evil. Just because certain individuals work for the so-called bad side, one cannot lump them all together neatly in a group. So far, we’ve encountered Scar, Envy’s group, Greed’s posse, and Archer/Kimblee pair.
Scar who caused deaths of state alchemists in the earlier part of the series is promoted to a semi-ally of the Elrics. Envy’s group which includes Lust, Sloth, Gluttony, and their newest nakama, Wrath, never affiliated themselves with Scar nor Greed. Greed who had an understanding with Kimblee was quickly betrayed, as seen in this episode. So even though they are considered villains at some point, one cannot assume that they work for the same side. It’s like the author is saying, “Let’s have fun and confuse the audience more.” I really love this show.
Since I have been patient with my urge to read the manga, I have no idea as to where the direction of the storyline will go. Lust’s group tries to manipulate a war between Ishbal people and the military. Greed kidnaps Al. Kimblee finds a new ally and betrays Greed. Archer summons Ed in a very gruff manner. Seriously, a lot has been going on in this program. On top of this, Mustang slowly places himself to the highest position. The Fuhrer’s involvement or at least knowledge on all this commotion has to be revealed. (I still have my suspicions on him being a homunculus.) Izumi and her sensei’s opposing views on alchemy are yet to be explained. And the brothers are still unaware of Hughes passing.
As I said, I’m addicted to this series but it seems to me that we are teased to death with so many questions and mystery. No complains yet. I enjoy speculating about the intricacies of the plot even though my opinions are usually way off.
One tiny thing. I thought it would’ve been better if Izumi’s sensei stopped with ‘goodbye’ as her last line for the ep. Adding the next phrase only lessened the impact of her farewell. It’s probably just me being weird about it.
