Kenran: Episode 11

Am I suppose to sympathize with Vess? Um, I really can’t even feel an ounce pity even though she was locked up. Her impulsive actions only destroyed the trap set by the federation to capture Aurora. For a supposedly elite soldier, she lacks discipline. Eh, she’s not exactly a likeable character in this series.

Although Vess acted foolishly, her behavior was mostly triggered by a message from her father. He intends to visit Mars for a business meeting and also to see his daughter. We can all see that she has this complex about wanting her father to be proud of her or something like that. Was it mentioned before that she’s adopted? Someone please correct me. If not, that’s my theory. She probably strives to be perfect so she can feel that she’s worthy of her family name.

Since it’s a Vess-centric episode, I was not really into it. The granny still tickled my fancy and I would like to see her in future episodes. As always, Gram acted like Gram. No one knows his real thoughts. Or it could be that he doesn’t think much at all.

Next episode should be interesting with an appearance of a ghost ship.
