Revisiting Buffyverse

It’s been a while since I was able to catch on FX’s BtVS on early weekday mornings. Anyhow, due to lack of sleep and whatnot, I find myself watching a couple of episodes from season seven, Touched and End of Days.

I have a slight dissatisfaction for this season, but I admit, Touched and End of Days has some of the my favorites scenes in the series. Anya and Andrew delivered their funny quips (They should have a sitcom together. Who didn’t love their wheelchair fight?). Mayor Wilkins appeared once again (Not counting season two, he’s probably the best Big Bad to appear on the show). For a short moment, Giles unleashes Ripper (I’m still waiting for his mini-series). Mr. Principal and Faith get it on (H-A-W-T). Spike delivers one of his shining moments (Awww, JM’s such a brilliant actor). Buffy had her I-told-you-so moment (She didn’t gloat but she was right on her hunch). And the not-so-surprising Angel cameo (Cookie dough, anyone?).

Unfortunately, there’s a major flaw in this episode. A new supporting character who started out as relatively a likeable noob kept annoying the everyone around her not named Willow. And this includes the audience. Heck, as I was watching the episode I remembered my rage. To those Buffy aficionados, you know who I’m talking about, right? Argh, yes, I’m an active member of the I-hate-Kennedy club. Joss usually writes charismatic characters but Kennedy just leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Even the Master was more endearing than her. And, seducing Willow? The horror. If only Tara were alive…

I did not want to start my day with character bashing yet I couldn’t help it. Friends have been pointing out the increase of complaints I’ve been pointing out in half of my posts. So after this, I’ll try to strengthen my resolve to look at the positive aspects of things. Oh, wait. Nah, I find joy in what I have been doing. *lol*

Back to BtVS. What can I say? Kennedy never endeared herself to the viewers. I think it’s safe to say that majority of the BtVS enthusiasts were not exactly a fan of hers. Well it’s over and done with yet I still am bothered.

On a more ’shippy note, Spike and Buffy should’ve been destined together. Yeah, yeah, I know. Joss wanted us to think that she had moved on, blah, blah, blah. But I’m still hoping for a reunion for the two. A big B/S ’shipper, at your service.

This is why I try to avoid anything related to Buffyverse when I’m supposed to do something else. I always lose track of time. I say the same thing one and on without breaking a sweat. Broken record, much? I should get some sleep now.
