Sailormoon Live Action: Episode 33

With Mamuro and Usagi becoming all lovey-dovey, the show seriously needs teenage angst. Ta-da! So the writers cook up a subplot for both Ami and Rei.

I’m not sure if it’s good for both Rei and Ami to experience a comparable problem from their respective parents. I suppose the writers are aiming for a parallel between the two. Both have single parents whom they rarely see. While Ami has a relatively better relationship with her mom, Rei only shows animosity to her father. In fact, she blames him for her mother’s death.

Although I’m delighted with the attempt at character development for the said senshis, I’d rather see a separate mini-arc or two-parter for each of them, especially for Rei. Her relationship with her father seems like a very interesting *cough*and soapy*cough* twist in the storyline. Revelation of her background will only add layers on her character. Bring on the drama.

Evil Mio’s affiliation with either Queen Beryl or Queen Metalia seems the only plausible explanation to her specific attacks on Usagi. Annoying as she is, her presence only heightens the mystery. Just play along with the mystery thing. But seriously, I’m interested on her next move against Usagi.

On a more brighter note, I’m happy to report that senshi!Luna appeared ever so briefly. One can only hope that the producers will eventually write her out of the show.
