Yumeria: Finale

I think I was better off forgetting about this series. At least, the show ended in a happy note instead of an out of place depressing episode.

The fade out from the last episode was a misdirection. Instead of returning to his world, Mikuri was sent to a fake environment where the his cherished memories of his friends and families were sealed. The tenacious Nate spent massive amounts of energy to track him down and guide him to Mone. However, her energy depletion caused her to disappear. So Mikuri remembered everything and reunited with Mone. They escaped the fake world and called out to the rest of the gang. They worked as one and defeated their enemy.

After the battle, the world changed slightly. Instead of moving, Mizuki’s lovey-dovey parents remained in the area. Mikuri who currently dates Mizuki lives with his father. Nate has her own body which was oddly but fittingly dressed in goth fashion. She pairs up with Neneko for an audition. It think they are supposed to be twins in this world. And Mone transfers to Mikuri’s class. With the changes in this world, I think it’s only Mone and Mikuri who remembered another time. I’m not sure.

The first half of the series was quite hilarious but it got old after the repetitiveness of the gags were milked dry. The attempt at having a storyline only tarnished its entertainment value. Both the OP and ED theme were average and forgettable. Actually, the OP sequence with Mone and Neneko dancing became really irritating as the series progressed. Anime marathon for this series is not recommended. As I said earlier, one can only take this type of shows in small doses unless you’re a fan of the genre. Will I watch this anime again? Probably not.
