Otogizoushi: Episode 03

After a slow start, the latest installment carried on in a relatively quicker pace including advancement in the storyline.

Tsuna, Hikaru, and Sadamitsu entered the Tsuchigimo’s lair where they released the mysterious caged woman named Kizune from the first episode. Sadamitsu offered to take her out of the cave but Tsuna interevened reminding him of their mission. So Kizune joined the group and even led them in the heart of the cave where the Tsuchigimo gathered. Once spotting their target, they formulated a plan for Tsuna to act as a bait while the others steal the magatama.

However, Kizune acted independently by attacking the leader, Hoshikuma, although failed in her attempt. Fortunately, Sadamitsu with the help of Hikaru’s archery helped defeat this huge villain. Kizune then revealed that she was in fact the real head of the Tsuchigimo clan who lived peacefully with the villagers until the arrival of the magatama. She theorizes on the connection between the famed charm to the tragedies which occurred thereafter they received it as a gift from the capital. She was more than willing to let the crystal go. As soon as Hikaru accomplished her mission, she and her companions rode as quickly as they could towards home only to be greeted by a grieving father.

I’m surprised at how quickly the events unfolded. Hikaru’s triumphant return was eclipsed by the passing of her dearest brother. Little did she know she was to meet someone who’ll most likely change the her life. Could this be the mysterious performer? I’m intrigued. BTW, will she continue to pose as her brother? We’ll see.

The political maneuvering confuses me still. Motives on each sides are questionable especially Senmei, with his guarded attitude. How big is role in this tapestry of events?

The animation continues to amaze me. Like Vireyda pointed out, they look as if they were painted. I admit there were instances where the background clashes with the characters. Not much big of a deal, though. Nonetheless, I was trigger-happy with my screen shots because I couldn’t help myself. Gorgeous images. Hmmm…it’s probably time to replace my caps on top of the main page.
