Fullmetal Alchemist: Episode 44

I was surprised to be not entirely mistaken at the switcheroo theory I proposed earlier. As it turns out, another surprise came to Rose. Layla, or should I say Dante, led her to room where some of the homunculus were in. What would become of her is anybody’s guess.
At first, I had my doubts on Hohenheim and his intentions to his sons. Basing on his actions, it seems that he was regretful for his mistakes and sincerely care for Ed and Al. The little chat he had with Dante suggested that he had also borrowed someone else’s body. His capabilities seems similar to Dante but their attitude towards life is quite different. Will the battle end on the upcoming episode? *sigh* Please, not another death on the good guys’ side. It’s getting traumatic.
Meanwhile, Ed and Al finally learned about Hughes death in not-so-gentle fashion through Scieska (a different spelling for every entry). Predictably, the brothers were ready to run towards Mustang and take him to task until they were told of Mustangs true purpose.
For some reason, Mustang has an over-protective streak on the Elrics. I wonder if its because they are very young to carry heavy burdens, Or is he connected to them in a familial way. I’m inclined towards the former since the latter, while not too far-fetched, is on the soap-y side.
The direction of the series is very impressive even with its deviation from the manga. Usually a series tends to go downhill once it differs from its original source but thankfully, FMA has some talented writers providing excellent materials.
