One Piece: Episode 104

Arguably, this ranks amongst the top twenty episodes of OP. We’ve got comedy, drama, intrigue, a mini fist fight, a seriously messed up dehydration technique, and lest I forget a pillow fight.

Luffy delivered some of his best monologues, ever. I tend to side with Vivi’s naive way of thinking but Luffy’s analysis of the situation hits the spot. A war is about to ignite. A mere meeting with the Rebel Army does not guarantee a peaceful resolution. Even with a truce, Crocodile will act to his own accord if not defeated. His cohorts’ skills, in addition to his immense powers, can wipe out an entire army. Like it or not, Vivi has to risk not only her life but her nakamas as well.

Ah war, such a tricky business. I’m very tempted to comment on how this relates to the current political climate but I’ll restrain myself. You may breathe now.

While Luffy argues with Vivi, Crocodile and his team discuss the finishing touches on his grand scheme. The supposedly dead Mr. 3 unexpectedly interrupted them and asked for another chance to complete his mission. Unfortunately, he dealt with a merciless boss. His fate awaits.

The episode provided a solid narrative, a fast-paced movement, and excellent dialogues especially from Luffy’s. I just love it when Luffy shows his serious side.
