Otogizoushi: Episode 07

Hmmm…I can’t seem to form any coherent thought after watching this episode. Take one look at the screencaps and you’ll understand. Granted, they were taken from a dream sequence but we all know the metaphor. Or at least I’m hoping this will lead to happy-ever-after ending. After all, the title itself means fairy tale, right? Unless the producers opt for a heartbreak.

The blooming romance between Sai and Hikaru almost overshadows the introduction of Raikou’s fourth retainer, Kintarou. As mentioned before, Kintarou possesses unbelievable strength which was probably nurtured by living amongst the wild. Not only can he lift and hurl someone ten times (perhaps more) his weight, he has developed a very keen sense of smell. Thus, enabling him to track down Sadamitsu’s provisions which led to hilarious scenes of blackmail, a bite, and a chase. I can see the mix of personalities between Kintarou, Sadamitsu, and Tsuna being a great source for laughs.

I am slightly bothered with Hikaru’s easy acceptance to the kid’s integration to the group. A semi-interrogation may establish other information from him other than wanting to be the strongest in the country or perhaps the world. In any case, this bottomless pit will be a fun addition to our travelers. Kintarou, the designated loudmouth and muscle, along with Sadamitsu the ladies man, Urabe the intellectual, Tsuna the uptight character, and Hikaru/Raikou the leader complete the party of five.

How Sai will eventually fit into the magatama storyline remains a mystery. He comes and goes as he please which makes him more and more fascinating. Although he acted as though he did not caught a glimpse of the magatama, he seems perceptive enough to discern Hikaru’s mission.

Speaking of perceptiveness, how come the episode’s villain was able to see through Hikaru’s disguise, whereas Urabe and Sadamitsu seemed to be too oblivious of this fact. Or maybe they know but remain quiet to respect her privacy and personal business.

BTW, is there another romance brewing on the sidelines? Or could this be only a manipulation? Let’s wait and see.
