Samurai 7: Episode 09

It’s about time we’re shown a glimpse of how our heroes perform collectively.
Old partners, Kanbei and Shichiroji (I’m tempted to call him Momo-chan *snicker*), picked up right where they left off. One word from Kanbei, and Shichiroji immediately understood how to respond. Gorobei performed his matrix-y move once again and showed, um, extreme enjoyment during battle. Freak. Heihachi proved that his cutting skills aren’t only meant for wood. A recovering Katsushirou displayed an impressive attack to free the captive and to distract our kidnapper. Not to be outdone, Kikuchiyo was held hostage and nagged his captors into irritation. (^_^) Kikuchiyo is a riot.
One of the biggest surprise for the episode comes from Kyuuzou himself. In his usual stoic self, he defied his employer’s order and sided with Kanbei&co. Technically, he wanted to be the one who kills Kanbei but hey, whatever works for him.
Another good news for our tired warriors, the guardians of the cave aren’t as wicked as they were portrayed. They might prove to be a useful ally later on.
