Samurai Champloo: Episode 08

I’m torn between extreme amusement and annoyance at the very first scene of this episode. Either way, it caught my attention.

As usual, the trio are broke, hungry, and tired, not necessarily in that order. The solution? Find the nearest pawnshop. Fuu had nothing of value with her worth a substantial exchange. Mugen’s nameless sword does not help either. I think he’ll sell his soul to satisfy his hunger if he could. Only Jin and his sword can save them now. Fortunately, the owner fancies his glasses instead. No need to part with his precioussss…

Once again, nothing happens except for select hilarious pieces from Jin (he’s strange and funny) and a tiny bit of information from Jin’s past. Do we really have to wait for the second half of the series (assuming this is a twenty-six or twenty-four episode season) before we get to the juicer part of the storyline?
