Fullmetal Alchemist: Episode 47

Major spoilers alert.

Amongst the seven homunculus, Wrath, Lust, and recently Sloth are villains one cannot help but sympathize with. We’ve seen Wrath developed from an innocent lad to a raging menace. The memories of a woman from Ishbal burdened Lust. And Sloth’s small recollection of the Elric brother’s childhood haunted her. If I’m not mistaken, these three are the most recent players in Team Dante, right? With fresh memories burned in their minds, they somewhat exhibit signs of humanity.

While I’m saddened by Lust’s fate, it deemed a fitting end to her tragic un-life. Death may be the only way for her to achieve closure. Deep down, all she wanted was to rest in peace.

Sloth’s passing is another matter (she’s really gone, right?). Her end marks the beginning of another chapter for both Ed and Al. The brothers faced their sin and survived the ordeal. Now, atonement comes next.

Seeing his surrogate mother literally disappearing before him, Wrath may become more psycho and unstable. He already suffered from remembering ‘the gate experience’ and he’d likely be more traumatized watching this scene before him. Poor kid.

Whoa, five more episodes to go til the finale. With the impressive writing on the second half of the series, I am only expecting major revelations and solid storytelling.
