Kenran: Episode 16

Ah…such a waste. The series decided to ignore a little thing called character development. Vess’ supposed demise could’ve been a major turning point for our main protagonist. Instead of pursuing a riskier direction that might add depth to Gram, the animators opted for an easy way out of his depression. Only after a few days of dwelling over Vess, few choice words from a friend miraculously snapped him out of his uncharacteristic behavior.

With high expectations, I thought Kenran would develop into something more substantial. While the inherent old-school feel has its charm, I’m utterly disappointed with the obvious signs of mediocrity.

Can this series bounce back into top form before it ends?
