Beck: Episode 02

The second installment continues right where the pilot left off. And Koyuki’s orientation to a different kind of music begins.

The series slightly jabs the artists who have the whole notion of bleached hair and pseudo-stylish costumes being half of what it takes to be a star. I suppose the Eiji-Ryuusuke rivalry will emphasize the two diverging roads where one makes compromises for his music to attain popularity and the riskier idealistic path where goals are even harder to reach.

Did I mentioned before that I sort-of liked the OP theme? Scratch that. The repetitive lyrics is starting to get to me. And I’m seriously underwhelmed by the Dying Breed ten-second teaser. It’s decent and competent but quite frankly, it sounds generic music to my ears. It might be just me.
