Bleach: Episode 01

Bleach basically deals with an orange-haired teen named Ichigo who has the gift to see ghosts. His ‘gift’ later on becomes instrumental for having an unwanted job as a shinigami. Okay, I didn’t do the description justice but it’ll suffice for now. To those interested for a detailed account, Garten has written up an excellent summation and review for the pilot.
Storywise, I have no complaints with the adaptation. And so far, I’m loving the seiyuus for both Ichigo and Rukia. But there’s something weird about the animation that I could not seem to put a finger on. It feels too inconsistent as it is. Adding to the nitpick comes the OP sequence. It’s probably just because I’m not very fond of rap. On the other hand, the ED is pretty good for easy-listening. I might even be tempted to check out the single when they officially released it.
While my penchant for shounen-fight genre was the primary draw when I started following the manga, the title proved to be an excellent and addicting read. I’ve been highly anticipating the pilot for this series ever since the new season started. But quite frankly, I can’t say I’m impressed by the first episode. However, given the quality of the storyline, I’m sure it’ll prove it’s worth later on.
