Bleach: Episode 02

With Rukia’s powers diminished, the shinigami decided to stick around Ichigo like glue. She transferred to Ichigo’s class and invaded his closet. Her mission: to make a god of death (albeit, a temporary one) out of the reluctant hero.
Meanwhile, we learn more of Orihime’s backstory. A few years ago, a car accident claimed her older brother’s life. His spirit remained in this world which led to an unfortunate turn of events. He turned into a dreadful hollow. So Orihime, beware. Hopefully, the birth-of-a-hollow scene will be given a nifty explanation not too far off from the manga.
After a not-so-satisfying series opener, the second installment made a subtle but significant improvement. This time around the integration of humorous and grim moments does not seem forced at all. Maybe, by the fourth or fifth episode, the series may finally nail down its own brand of style. After giving a bit of thought regarding the director’s use of a slightly washed look, I’m finding myself slowly warming to the visuals. As for the seiyuus, Rukia’s VA should be given bonus points for effortlessly switching from one voice to another. I almost died laughing at her attempt at being girl-y.
Oh, and I want a full English version of the ED. I wonder if Rie Fu will ever record one…
