List Mania! part 2

Continuing from List Mania! part 1, here’s a list of my impressions on some of the titles this fall ‘04.

Bleach. Ah, as if I need more shows from the shonen-fight series. Yet with my partiality to this genre, I humbly accept. *lol* To be honest, first two episodes weren’t impressive enough for this manga-fan. Then again, I only started loving the manga when it reached volume three…so no worries. BTW, I absolutely love Rukia’s VA.

Tactics. A very solid pilot except for that horrid Charlie’s Angels theme during the chant. Ugh, ick-y music. An angst-y, winged bishie is slightly an overdone character but the episode suggests ‘fresh’ twists for the viewer. Also, the combination of humorous and dark moments are somehow seamlessly integrated.

Yakitate!! Ja-Pan. An anime revolving around bread. The concept may turn-off some viewers but this is a must-see on my list. But the emphasis on the ’solar hands’ may need to calm down a bit. And for goodness’ sake, Azuma isn’t supposed to be that loud, right?

School Rumble. One of the funniest pilot I’ve seen, ever. This may sound odd but Tenma reminds me of FuruBa’s Tohru. I know, she’s in no way like Tohru but she definitely has that ditzy, innocent vibe going on around her.

Grenadier. It had its moments but I’m not sure if I’ll continue watching. The fanservice is too unnerving that one forgets one’s adoration to a certain seiyuu.

Beet the Vandel Buster. Ummm…I wasted twenty-two minutes of my time.

To Heart - Remember my Memories. It’s okay, I guess. Quite frankly, I’m not too fond of genre.

So far, I have not seen a harem-type show (thankfully). If I manage to get a glimpse of one, I’ll surely run towards the opposite direction, screaming. And I’m trying to stay far, far away from anything too cute. ‘Kawaii-ness’ can only be bearable in small doses.

Okay, I haven’t previewed much pilots. I might check out a couple more titles if I ever get a chance. Also, I am still waiting for a group that would sub Genshiken.
