Naruto: Episode 103

The tale of our favorite genins’ mini-adventure continues…
I think I’m one of the minority who’s quite comfortable with this filler arc. True, the plot remains mediocre but it’s refreshing to watch the trio working together once again. Once I ignore the inconsistencies of their skill and strength, I’m a happy customer. I’m guessing, Naruto and Sasuke’s current abilities can easily beat their enemies. Oh, and I really Sakura’s newly found uber-strength. Too bad, it will most likely disappear once we get to the ‘real’ storyline.
Utilizing previous characters from the Chuunin exam is probably an attempt at continuity. And good call for those who correctly theorized Idate’s connection to the examiner Ibiki. Angst might be on its way.
Although I find the introduction of a new character rather odd (since Naruto-verse has plenty of interesting characters), this could be a better option. Using familiar faces for the current plot can be more dangerous to the main thread of the series. With a new character, the animators can freely choose their own storyline that will least likely cause future inconsistencies. Yeah, yeah, I know there are a lot of them in this episode…
