Otogizoushi: Episode 12

An action-packed installment mixed with drama, fight scenes, a touch of humor, and a not-so-surprising yet extremely grating twist. Love the episode but hate the writers. If you’ve already seen the episode, you’d probably understand the hair-pulling reaction.
Being the penultimate episode of the Heian arc, the number of fight sequences was more than usual. Let’s see… Hikaru, Tsuna, Sadamitsu, and Kintarou charging through a rain of arrows quickened the pace of the first act. Since I’m partial to most display of skill using the two-sword technique, Sadamitsu facing numerous (and I mean numerous) soldiers all by himself was a sight to be seen. Tsuna in a one-on-one match with masked warrior was excellently choreographed. But my favorite of them all was the stand-off between Hikaru and an enemy also using a bow and arrow. Refusing to back down and allowing herself to be hit became part of her strategy for a sure win.
While the fast-paced scenes kept the adrenaline running, the final act slowed down to take a dramatic turn. Without a doubt, Tsuna had his eyes only for Hikaru, presumably, even when he served her brother Raikou. His parting scene with Hikaru was especially touching. His unspoken words were more powerful than what was uttered. His last minute hesitation to touch Hikaru could only induce a painful sigh. Even in death, he stood like the courageous warrior he exemplified.
Now, for the cliffhanger… Those writers actually did it. Guess who’s under the Noh mask? I’ll give you one chance. If you think you answered correctly, confirm it here. Evil writers.
