Bleach: Episode 05

While the first half of the two-parter introduced our resident muscle dude, the second half focused on major clueage on what’s to come for our protagonists. It’s probably no coincidence that the mangaka chose Chad’s introduction by using a young boy and his mother as part of the narrative. Ichigo’s raging reaction to his opponent’s devious psyche was not only triggered by the horrific confession but also by a kept secret.

On the lighter side of he series, Chad’s continued reference to Rukia as ‘transfer student’ prompts chuckles from this audience member. One also notes the seamless integration of humor during odd instances. Thankfully, the awkward transition of drama to comedy is gone, permanently I hope.

BTW, I appreciate the change of color palette during the spirit world scenes. However, prolonged exposure to the said style leads to excessive headaches.
