Bleach: Episode 06

An excellent episode, if I say so myself. Kon’s introduction certainly pushes the series towards a darker spectrum.

I find the animators’ interpretation of Kon’s temperament and personality quite satisfying. Instead shying away from the Kon’s frightening aspect, they opt to demonstrate his capacity for brutality. Awaiting for inevitable destruction, an encaged mod-soul cannot simply be left mentally and emotionally unscathed.

Aside from Kon, the audiences are introduced to Uruhara, a mysterious shopkeeper, who works on the fringes of the Soul Society bylaw. His remarks to Rukia about “pretending” is rife with hints of bigger things to come. Okay, for some reason, I find him the coolest character in the series just because. So be forewarned to any fangirl-y gushing because I’m completely besotted to the fellow.

The animators have been quite adept in integrating snatches of humor on the show. The running gag on Rukia’s drawings never gets old. And her fascination with bunnies… Oh, and I pity Ichigo for having such a perverted dad. *laughs*
