Genshiken: Episode 03

Holy mother of god! Oh my, this audience member is overwhelmed by the extent of the doujinshi obsession shown in this episode. Yet I understand the sentiment since I’ve been to a Buffy-con (except that it’ll take a whole lot of convincing before I attend any kind of Con again since crowds and lines are amongst the top ten on my enemy list). The fanfic fascination is what amazes me. Whenever I read any of them even if it is well written, I tend to be disinterested. To me, it’s not the same as reading the works from the original author. My brain would not accept the material as real. Or something that effect, but I digress.

Physical well-being versus doujinshi. To Madarame, the answer is clearly obvious. He sure has skewed sense of priorities but his pain tolerance is very impressive. Believe me, I would’ve screamed for loads of Morphine if my hands were swollen like his. Regarding Sasahara’s developments, the viewers watch as his inner otaku slowly emerges out of the closet. Even if he questions his choices right now, he cannot escape anymore.

As usual, hilarity and amusing double-entendre ensue. Admittedly, a couple of scenes are out of my grasp but those are minor points which are probably intended to more knowledgeable viewers. So far, I’m enjoying the funnies in the program. I’m even tempted to take a sneak peek at the manga. Once again, my patience is being tested.
