Manga Musings: HanaKimi

Holy crap! I just finished reading Hanazakari no Kimitachi e. I was hooked when I randomly purchased the first two volumes. Imagine my elation when I found a complete scanslated version.

A girl, concealing her gender, decided to enroll in an all-boy school. Man, the premise is only an excuse to invite the barrage of yaoi-ness. Quite frankly, I’m not big in all that yaoi but a good romantic story is still a good romantic story. Period. *coughs*excuses*coughs*

Whew, I finished all twenty three volumes in one sitting which basically had me up til about eight in the morning. Then, this dumb college kid comes knocking on my door in around nine and wakes me up. To say the least, I get seriously crabby when my sleep is disturbed. Now that I’m wide awake, I realize that I was a tad rude while dealing with the poor exchange student. To my defense, I was functioning in auto-mode and my brain’s oxygen level was at a dangerously low point.

Um, okay, I went off on a tangent. Back to the manga. To those who want a light read, try HanaKimi. If you ignore the hordes of bishies and deliciously massive gayness, it’s quite a sweet tale. Argh, now if I can fall asleep again…
