Samurai 7: Episode 16

Round two concluded but not without casualties. Major spoilers ahead.

Death amongst one of the seven samurai did come as a big surprise but I was expecting events such as this on the final episodes. Unfortunately, Gorobei’s demise barely triggered an emotional impact to create a powerful scene. Given the number of characters in the show, it’s understandable not to allot so much time to each one of them. Yet considering this tragedy marked as the first major loss on our protagonists, this should’ve been crafted more delicately instead of focusing on the action sequences.

Such a disappointing episode for a first casualty. Audiences and fans deserve better.
