Beck: Episode 10

I promised myself to limit my usual nitpicks yet upon hearing the “Face”, I can’t help but be disappointed once again. Not to be mistaken, I liked the melody and lyrics of the track. However, Koyuki’s performance… *sigh* The voice quality is unnerving. Am I reacting to the Engrish (but I’m already used to Ryuusuke and Maho’s Engrish)? Or does he just have a suck-y singing voice?

Aside from the obvious limitations, I’m satisfied with the writing for the anime. Most of the changes and certain omissions from the manga are surprisingly appropriate. And for a musically centered series, the music isn’t so bad either. I’m not a fan of j-rap (or any kind of rap) but Chiba has his moments. Heck, I find him adorable.

FYI, if I am not mistaken, “Full moon sway” is named “Swimming Bare” from the manga and “Face” is “Sister”. Of course, I’m only going by the scanslations.

Whew, I finally caught up with the subs.
