Samurai 7: Episode 17

After the tumultuous battle with the Nobuseri, the series slows down the momentum. With Gorobei’s untimely death, there’s a need for a change of pace. In other circumstance, I would’ve complained about the total allotment of recaps in this particular episode. However, the time interval of the subbed releases mostly played a role to this temporary change of heart. And since a mini-arc just finished, an obligatory transition ep is to be expected.
Having met his agreement with the Kanna village, Kanbei decides to embark a solo journey in order to complete his promise to another. I’m guessing that the remaining samurai will show up once troubles arise.
So far, I’m most curious on the young master’s *real* significance. His playful attitude might be hiding a conniving and clever mind. Or maybe he is plain unstable…
