Major: Episode 03

It’s official. Yep, I’m already biased with my judgment and completely enamored with this series. Major is definitely going to be a fun ride for me. Yet with the number of highly publicized titles this season, I’m afraid that this show might not gain the attention it deserves.
Goro along with his new friend discovers a Little League team. Surprised by Goro’s pitching skill, the coach recruits him on the spot. However the minute Honda was informed of this new development, he confronts the coach about the harsh consequences of having a five-year-old boy training at such young age. Of course, the whole thing ends in a resolution plus an addition of a hallmark moment which I should not even comment on. The second half resolves Goro’s confusion on his father’s intentions. Honda finally shows his son the hard work he has been enduring when he hits a home-run.
The transition from Goro to Honda’s perspective is quite smooth and effective. I find it amazing that the episode manages to integrate some ‘real’ baseball action at the final scenes and make them work too. The direction of the storyline is still uncertain. Since Goro is too young to play for the Little League, we should expect a time leap in the upcoming eps. And will this mean the show will first center on Honda’s struggles?
BTW, I’m liking the Hoshino-Honda pairing.
