Otogizoushi: Episode 22

Am I in a sucky mood today or did I just watched a crappy episode complemented with cheesy writing? As mentioned in previous entries, I’ve lowered the bar of expectations for this series so that I can somewhat still enjoy the show even if it means scraping at the bottom of the barrel. But as it turns out, I’m once again drenched in disappointment.
Hikaru remembers bits and pieces of her past life. Because of the confusing images flashing in her mind, she is reluctant to trust Mansairaku more than ever. But with no one to turn to, she chooses to find him and to lend her strength.
In the meantime, Tsuna, Sadamitsu, Urabe, and Kintarou decide to team up with Hikaru. And please, someone tell me I’m not the only one who cringed seeing the scene where the four of them stretched out their hands to Hikaru. That’s just too crappy in my book. I mean, it’s great that after all this time they still a precious bond for one another but this one’s out of the blue. Sure, they aided Hikaru during the Heian period and it was natural to as it unfolded. However, the lack of solid writing made the scene appear out of nowhere. The second season never established a believable solidarity of the quintet for them to risk their life for Hikaru, except for Tsuna.
I used to look forward watching each episode. Now, it’s more like routine. I’ve seen the raw of twenty-three and that’s much worse. I’ll be staying away from twenty-four to avoid drowning in complete sorrow of what-should’ve-been.
