Peach Girl 01

I MUST resist the urge to splurge on the Peach Girl manga. I MUST stay unspoilt til the end of the anime adaptation. I MUST maintain the virtue of patience. I MUST abstain from dropping by any bookstore nor searching IRC for scans. Argh!!

The first episode of Peach Girl is neither impressive nor a master piece. In fact, it’s reeking with cliche. Yet my innate helplessness to this type of storyline usually grabs my attention. Chees-tastic shojo series will always be welcome to satisfy my anime/mange diet. I’m weak and shallow.

Momo is not your typical heroine, superficially that is. She has bleached hair and tanned skin which often causes misunderstanding about her personality. She is deeply infatuated with the seemingly perfect bishounen, Touji, who suddenly admits his feelings for her. And staying true to its genre, the series introduces another supporting character who would complete the love triangle. Of course, there’s the token b*tchy semi-villain who would add color to the series (and would probably annoy the audiences).

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a ‘pure’ romantic shojo series. So this release is a pleasant addition to this season.
