Sailormoon Live Action: Special Act

For obvious (and painfully embarrassing) reasons, I had no intention on blogging on this special act. However, the moment I saw Usagi’s engagement ring, I simply could not help myself. Why in the world did the writers choose such an ugly ring? I realize that cheesiness is integral to this show but couldn’t they decide on something not plastic.

In case you braved out the subject matter and wondered about the special, five years have passed since the senshis defeated Queen Beryl. Ami is a young and successful doctor which is expected. Rei remains a temple priestess but with powers grown. Minako manages to conquer western audiences (whatever). Mako owns a flower shop. And Usagi… I don’t think she has a career. Anyhow, everything seems peaceful and Usagi and Mamoru are about to be wed but Kuriko Mio resurrects to annoy the audience cause chaos. Of course, everything is fine and dandy at the end of the day.

Frankly, I don’t really care about the Usagi-Mamoru union. Instead, I focus on my favorite couple, turtle-dude Motoki and Mako. Imagine a cry of joy when I saw a turtle plushie next to Mako. Then later on, Motoki actually proposed to her. Yeah, it’s silly but I like them nonetheless.

Given my love-hate relationship with this PGSM, I’m pleased to learn that the producers finally concluded the series because I don’t think I can handle more of this Live Action version. It was fun but it has to end NOW.
