Air: Episode 05

Despite my partiality to Minagi, Misuzu’s startling outburst disengages my attention away from the budding astronomer’s story. Misuzu’s eventual breakdown is duly expected yet the timing couldn’t be more surprising. The brink of any intimate connection prompts the seemingly carefree lass into tears, a sign of psychological trauma. The display of emotion becomes an impenetrable armor to prevent further abandonment. Perhaps, the deeply rooted anguish originates from parental betrayal, particularly coming mostly from the mother-figure.

Truthfully, a few tears of my own escaped as I empathized with both Misuzu and Minagi. While I openly admit I bawl over almost anything, the stories seem compelling enough for a reasonable emotional investment for the two characters.

BTW, Michiru’s existence is very suspicious at this point. To be coincidentally named like Minagi’s younger sister is pretty much a dead giveaway.
